Day 1: Travel to Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas
Transfer to airport (Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, or Guadalajara, depending on your departure point) for flights to Tuxtla Gutierrez. Transfer to the Magic Town of Chiapa de Corzo (approximately 45 minutes) for orientation.
Accommodation: Chiapa de Corzo.
Day 2: Sumidero Canyon & Chiapa de Corzo
Breakfast in the hotel, followed by departure for boat ride along the Grijalva River to enjoy the stunning scenery and wildlife of the magnificent Sumidero Canyon. Free time in Chiapa de Corzo and time for lunch (not included), followed by afternoon transfer to San Cristóbal de las Casas (approximately 1 ½ hours travel time) for check-in at hotel and orientation in this beautiful city.
Accommodation: San Cristóbal de las Casas.
Day 3: Indigenous towns of San Juan Chamula & Zinacantan, and San Cristóbal de las Casas
Breakfast in hotel, followed by departure to indigenous towns of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan (approximately 40 minutes travel time) to learn about the Mayan descendents known as the Tzotzil and their traditions and beliefs, including traditional medicine and textiles. Afternoon return to San Cristobal for lunch (not included) and walking tour.

Day 4: Agua Azul and Misol-Ha waterfalls
Departure for the breathtaking Agua Azul waterfalls (approximately 5 hours travel time – packed breakfast provided), one of Mexico’s most beautiful natural wonders (free time for lunch). Here you can hike to the top of the waterfall system to swim in the turquoise waters, or stop at one of the viewpoints along the way to take in the scenery. Transfer to Misol-Ha waterfall (approximately 1 ½ hours travel time), a single 35 m high cascade that falls into a pool surrounded by tropical vegetation. Afternoon transfer to Palenque National Park (approximately 45 minutes).

Day 5: Palenque Archaeological Site
Breakfast in hotel, followed by 9 am departure for tour of one of the most famous Mayan archaeological sites. The ruins of this great city date as far back as 226BC up until its demise in the 12th Century AD. Afternoon free to enjoy the beautiful surroundings at the hotel inside Palenque National Park.

Day 6: Mayan Train to Campeche
Early departure to Palenque train station to take the Tren Maya (Mayan Train) to the coastal city of Campeche (approximately 4 ½ hours), arriving around 1.30 pm. Time for lunch, followed by an afternoon city tour and free time in the evening to enjoy this colourful city’s great atmosphere.

Day 7: Uxmal Archaeological Site, Chocolate, and Merida
Transfer by road from Campeche to the archaeological site of Uxmal (approximately 2 hours); dating back as far as 600 DC, this site displays some of the most impressive Mesoamerican structures in all of Mexico. From Uxmal we head across the road to learn all about the importance of Cacao (chocolate) in the Mayan culture. Lunch included, followed by afternoon transfer to Merida (approximately 1 ½ hours). Evening orientation and free time for dinner.

Day 8: Merida & Flamingos of Celestún
Morning tour to see the flamingos in Celestún* (approximately 1 ½ hours each way), followed by afternoon city tour in Merida (or option to stay in Merida all day). Free time in the evening. *Please note that we cannot guarantee seeing flamingos in large numbers, but Celestún is considered the best place for sightings during the winter months (November to March).

Day 9: Izamal, Chichén Itzá, and Valladolid
Transfer by road to the yellow city of Izamal (approximately 1 ¼ hours) for tour of historic centre, followed by transfer to Chichén Itzá (approximately 1 ¼ hours), one of the most important Mayan cities of Mesoamerica. Lunch included, followed by visit to a beautiful cenote and time to refresh in its cool water. Afternoon transfer to Valladolid by road (approximately 1 hour). Evening free for dining.

Day 10: Valladolid and Tulum
City tour in Valladolid and time to swim in a cenote, right in the centre of the city. Time for lunch, followed by afternoon transfer to Tulum by road (approximately 1 ¾ hours). Evening free for dining.

Day 11: Tulum
Optional morning tour to the unique coastal archaeological site of Tulum, followed by afternoon free on the beach, OR treat yourself to a full day of relaxation at the beachside hotel in Tulum.
Accommodation: Tulum
Day 12: Return travel
Transfer to Cancun airport (approximately 2 hours) for return flights.
