Colima Horse Show
February 5th – 7th 2026

Day 1: Salt Flats, Petatera and Colima City
Departure from Melaque (pick-ups in Manzanillo) to salt flats of Cuyutlán (approximately 1 ½ hours) to learn about the production of high quality salt from the Cuyutlán lagoon. Transfer to Villa de Alvarez (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes) to visit the town’s famous Petatera, a handmade bull ring, constructed every year for the local fiestas, followed by time for lunch (not included), then transfer to hotel for check-in. Evening optional guided walking tour of Colima’s historic centre followed by free time for dining.

Day 2: Comala and the Horse Show
Breakfast, followed by transfer to Ex‐Hacienda de Nogueras (approximately ½ hour); once a sugar plantation and the Rangel family home, this site now boasts beautiful botanical gardens and houses the Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo Museum, exhibiting pre-Hispanic pieces collected by the designer/illustrator, as well as a collection of his paintings and furniture. Transfer to Suchitlán (approximately 20 minutes) for lunch (not included) and a visit to the home of a local artisan to learn about the tradition behind his wooden masks; including a stop to try some locally produced coffee along the way. Transfer to Comala (approximately 20 minutes) for free time to enjoy its picturesque town plaza or browse the local artisan stores along its traditional cobblestone streets. Transfer back to hotel. Dinner and Colima Horse show (dinner included).

Day 3: Folk art and Rum
Breakfast, followed by departure for the Folk Art Museum of Colima (approximately 10 minutes), housing an impressive display of folk art and handicrafts from different regions of Mexico. Transfer to ‘Ron Classico’ rum distillery (approximately 40 minutes), where sugarcane is grown in the fertile soils on the foothills of the volcanos to produce a high-quality rum – try your hand at making a mojito! Lunch (not included), then departure to Melaque (approximately 3 hours travel time).
