Day 1: Travel to Oaxaca City
Airport transfer and flights to Oaxaca City (via Mexico City)*. Afternoon/evening arrival followed by orientation and dinner (not included)/free time.
*Pick-up/departure times will be confirmed once flights have been reserved.
Accommodation: Oaxaca City’s historic centre.

Day 2: Monte Alban and Oaxaca City Centre
Breakfast in the hotel, followed by departure to the impressive Zapotec ruins of Monte Albán, one of the earliest cities in Mesoamerica (approximately 30 minutes by bus). Afternoon walking tour of Oaxaca City’s historic centre and free time for dinner.

Day 3: Rugs, Mezcal and the Arbol del Tule
Breakfast in the hotel followed by departure to Teotitlán del Valle and Tlacolula, famous for the production of traditional Zapotec style rugs and mezcal respectively. We learn about the history and tradition behind both products, as well as giving you the opportunity to purchase. We also visit the famous ‘Arbol del Tule’, the widest tree in the world.

Day 4: Mitla and Hierve el Agua
Breakfast followed by transfer to the Zapotec ruins of Mitla and the beautiful site of Hierve el Agua, where the minerals in the water springs have created an interesting rock formation resembling water boiling over the cliff edge. The water is cold, but you are able to go in for a dip! (Approximately 2 hours to the furthest destination).

Day 5: Black Pottery and Alebrijes
Breakfast in the hotel before heading to a traditional family workshop in San Bartolo Coyotepec to learn about the production of Oaxaca’s famous black pottery, followed by a demonstration on how to make Oaxaca’s famous Alebrijes in San Martin Tilcajete. (Approximately 1 hour to the furthest destination).

Day 6: Return travel
Airport transfer and return flights.*
