Tapalpa & Sayula

Day 1 : Magic towns of Sayula and Tapalpa
Departure to the Magic Town of Sayula (approximately 4 hours transfer time). Most famous for being the birthplace of the famous Mexican novelist, Juan Rulfo, Sayula is also famous for its delicious artisanal ‘cajeta’ (a Mexican caramel), and artisanal knives made by the Ojeda family. Learn about both processes, as well as enjoying the picturesque town plaza and time for lunch. Afternoon transfer to the Magic town of Tapalpa (approximately 1 hour) for check-in at the hotel and orientation.

Day 2: Indigenous community of Atacco
Breakfast, followed by walking tour of Tapalpa’s historic centre, then visit to the indigenous community of Atacco to learn about their traditional herb garden and natural remedies. Return to Tapalpa for lunch (not included). Free time in the afternoon to enjoy the Magic Town.

Day 3: Piedrotas de Tapalpa
Breakfast, followed by departure to the famous ‘Piedrotas de Tapalpa’, an intriguing formation of unusually large rocks in the nearby valley. Mid-morning departure towards Colima, with a stop to take photos of the Sayula Valley from above. Lunch stop (lunch not included) near Colima to appreciate views of the volcano (dependent on weather conditions). Afternoon return travel.
