MEX-ECO TOURS
Colima
The small state of Colima is a place of vast natural beauty, and great historical and cultural importance. Join Mex-ECO Tours and our expert local guide on one of our multi-day tours to explore its capital and surrounding countryside, including breathtaking views of one of Mexico’s most active volcanos, el Volcán de Colima.
Our most popular Colima tour coincides with the annual Colima horse show, combining a spectacular horse parade with a great cultural experience! This trip includes the famous Petatera of Villa de Alvarez (handmade bull ring, constructed every year for local fiestas), Colima’s historic centre, the Magic Town of Comala, Ex-Hacienda Nogueras, a rum factory with a view, and more – this cultural tour is also available on other dates, without the horse show (see Dates & Prices section below).
For private group tours to Colima, we can design an itinerary to suit your needs, here are some extra/alternative activities we can include:
– La Campana archaeological site.
– Visits with local artisans.
– ‘El Tortugario’ Conservation and Research Centre (focusing on sea turtles, green iguanas and the american crododile), Cuyutlán.
– Visits to learn about the production of Colima’s coffee, chocolate, world class salt, and traditional drinks, such as tejuino and tuba.
